Panthers Conclude Time at Space Coast Games

MELBOURNE, Fla.- The Davenport University softball team concluded its time at the Space Coast Games on Tuesday (March 4) with a pair of contests. The Panthers finish their time in the Sunshine State with a 6-4 overall record.

Game One vs. Cedarville
Result: W, 5-3
How it Happened
After surrendering one run in the top of the first inning, the Panthers responded with four runs of their own, taking a 4-1 lead. 

Savanna Disbrow registered the first run of the contest with a single to center field. On the ensuing at-bat, Darby Krap notched a single, moving Disbrow up to second base. With the bases loaded, Peyton Smith drilled a triple into right-center field, bringing home three runs (Disbrow, Kramp and Kylie Hegland).

Smith scored on the next at-bat off a single up the middle by Alaina Schwanke.

The Panthers scored their final run of the game in the bottom of the sixth, as Amanda Pay reached home. DU notched two hits in the inning. 

Hailey Whisman moved to 4-0 on the year for DU, pitching 5.1 innings and registering two strikeouts in the win.

Disbrow and Kramp each ended the game with a pair of hits and one run scored. Smith added one hit, one run scored and three RBIs for Davenport.

Result: L, 2-0
How it Happened
The Panthers registered two hits through seven innings, one from Ally Prasnjak and the other by Smith.

Hannah Tahaney spent all six innings in the circle, allowing no earned runs and registering four strikeouts.

Up Next
The Panthers will head to Owensboro, Ky. to take on Kentucky Wesleyan at noon in a doubleheader.
