INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. –
Keegan Batka has proven to be a tremendous pick up this season for the Davenport baseball team and he gave them another masterpiece on Saturday afternoon in a 5-0 win in game one at UIndy. Batka is fresh off the GLIAC Pitcher of the Week honors and made his case for another one against the Greyhounds. He went all seven innings and allowed six hits with no walks and seven strikeouts. He has put together one of the best starts in the country this season at 4-0 on the mound in four starts. Batka has a paltry 1.00 earned-run average in 27 innings with three walks and 26 strikeouts.
Dawson Gabe was saddled with the loss (2-2) for UIndy. He lasted 6.1 innings and gave up five hits with two earned runs to go with two walks and 10 strikeouts. The game was scoreless heading into the last inning when the Panthers scored all five of their runs.
Cody Hultink put the team on the board with a two-RBI single which scored
Coltrane Rubner and
Chase Kemp.
Justin Johnson followed with a single on the infield and
Logan Todd scored on an error.
Vincent Hardy had a RBI single to score Hultink with the fifth run.
Hultink and Hardy finished 2-for-4 to collect four of the team's seven hits.
Dylan Pawenski had the team's only extra-base hit of a double in the sixth inning. In game two, the Panthers are currently ahead 11-7 in the bottom of the seventh with two outs in a nine-inning game. It was called due to darkness and will resume on Sunday at noon. Then the final game of the series will be played.
