Three West Michigan student-athletes move on to the next level

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Following a historic season, three former Davenport baseball players will be taking their talents to the next level. Keegan Batka, Conor Gausselin, and Mason Hill will be continuing their baseball journeys after help the Panthers capture the 2025 GLIAC regular season and tournament titles.

Batka will be joining the Savannah Bananas organization as part of "The Visitors". The Visitors are a minor league training team within the Savannah Bananas, serving as a developmental team for players who may eventually play for the Bananas or Party Animals. The Visitors are primarily used as opponents in games where the Bananas or Party Animals are playing against the Firefighters. They are a way for the Bananas organization to identify and scout talent, often including players who may be affiliated with other teams or are graduating from college.

Gausselin and Hill are on the roster for the Westside Woolly Mammoths of the United Shore Professional Baseball League (USPBL). The USPBL is based out of Utica, Michigan and plays their games at Jimmy John's Field. The USPBL launched May 2016 and is designed as an innovative developmental finishing school for players seeking to make it to the Majors. The USPBL teams are comprised on top-level college baseball players from around the country. Since its inception, the USPBL has had 51 players signed by Major League organizations. The Woolly Mammoths joined the league in 2017 and the league currently has four teams.
