ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Davenport women's lacrosse team played No. 23 Grand Valley State plus-one in the first and fourth quarters on Friday night. However, the middle quarters is where the Lakers did their damage outscoring the Panthers 13-1 in a 17-6 outcome in GLIAC play. The Lakers won their 42nd straight GLIAC regular season game and completed the season sweep of the Panthers under the lights at the GVSU Lacrosse Stadium.
The Panthers had to feel good after leading 3-2 after the first quarter.

Alyssa Bird, and
Ele Darmofal got the team off to a great start. The Lakers started to turn the tide early in the second quarter with four straight goals. Zoe Ziegler, Ashleigh Rothe, Gracie Bancroft, and Ainsley Shilling gave GVSU a 6-3 with 7:23 remaining until halftime.
Brianna Rodriguez temporarily stopped the streak at 6:12 unassisted, but GVSU then closed out the quarter with four more goals for a 10-4 halftime lead. The third quarter featured five straight goals out of the locker room as Ziegler scored the first two goals of the quarter followed by a pair of Grace Maddox goals. Rothe added her fourth goal of the game at 1:34 of the quarter for a 15-4 advantage.
Basha's second goal of the game stopped a 10-goal streak by Grand Valley State at 6:58 of the fourth quarter unassisted. Rodriguez then scored her second of the game at 2:24 to conclude the scoring for DU.
Maddy Haynes did not score and will look to reach 100 career goals next home game against Northwood.
Theadora Krueger led the team with four caused turnovers and took over the all-time lead at DU in that category (94).
Jade Remacle collected three ground balls and caused one turnover.
Cassidy Sanders led the team with three draw controls. The Lakers led that category by a 18-8 margin.
The goalkeeper situation for the Panthers was
Zoe Cassell in the first half with two saves and
Rachel Livak in the second half with three saves. As mentioned, the Panthers (7-7, 2-5 GLIAC) will now gear up for their home finale of 2025 on Wednesday, Apr. 23 at 5 PM going outside the conference to play G-MAC member Northwood University (4-8, 1-5 G-MAC).
