Panthers Fall to Roosevelt on Friday Afternoon

CHICAGO, Ill. -  The Davenport University softball team dropped two games to Roosevelt on Friday at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex. With the loss, the Panthers have been eliminated from the postseason conference tournament.

Game One
Result: L, 6-0
How it Happened
Savanna Disbrow had the opening hit of the game with a double to right field. On the ensuing at-bat, Ally Prasnjak singled to center field, Disbrow tried to round third and go home but was thrown out at the plate to end the inning.

However, the Lakers responded with the first run of the game in the bottom of the first and four more runs in the fifth inning.

Hailey Whisman and Julia Perry split time in the circle for the Panthers. Whisman finished with a team-high four strikeouts in the loss.

Offensively, Prasnjak and Alaina Schwanke each finished with two hits to lead the way for Davenport. Kailyne Luna, Disbrow and Madison Cole all added a hit in the loss for the Panthers.

Game Two
Result: L, 5-4
How it Happened
It was a slow offensive output for both sides until the final inning of play. The two squads entered the final inning deadlocked at one apiece.

Brooke Bernt scored the first run of the seventh, as she was batted in off a single from Disbrow, putting DU ahead 2-1. The final two DU runs came off a fielding error by Roosevelt's third baseman, as she overthrew the ball to first base, allowing Disbrow and Luna to score.

However, the Lakers answered with four runs in the bottom of the seventh to secure the sweep.

In the circle, Hannah Tahney led the way for DU with three strikeouts in 6.1 innings pitched.

The senior duo of Bernt and Disbrow led the way for the Panthers, each finishing with two hits, one run and an RBI. Cole added two hits for DU, while Peyton Smith and Prasnjak chipped in with one hit apiece.
