GLIAC – Madison Berry and Hayley Carr of the Davenport University women's volleyball team have each earned GLIAC Volleyball Player of the Week nods after helping guide the Panthers to a perfect start in conference action this past weekend. 

Berry earned Setter of the Week honors after finishing with match-highs in assists twice this weekend, finishing with 36 against Northern Michigan (Sept. 19) and 42 against Michigan Tech (Sept. 20). In the win over the Huskies, she also garnered 13 digs, marking her third double-double of the season. The freshman currently leads the conference in assists per set (11.0). She is the second Panther in school history to receive GLIAC Setter of the Week honors. 

For Carr, she was named the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week, playing a pivotal role in both wins over the weekend. She led the squad in digs against both Northern Michigan (16) and Michigan Tech (25). In the win over the Wildcats, she notched a career-high six service aces in just three sets of action. She also recorded three aces against Michigan Tech. The sophomore is the third Panther to receive the honor in school history.

Looking ahead, Berry, Carr and the rest of the Panther squad has a big weekend in store, hosting Wayne State on Friday and crosstown rival and nationally-ranked Grand Valley State on Saturday.
