Panthers Head North for GLIAC Weekend

CALEDONIA, Mich. – Davenport enters its second week of GLIAC play with a trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula, where the Panthers will face Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan this weekend.

DU will play its lone night game of the season in Houghton, Mich., on Friday, Sept. 26, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. The Panthers then travel an hour south to Marquette for a noon matchup against Northern Michigan on Sunday, Sept. 28 before heading back home to Caledonia.

Last weekend, Davenport battled Ferris State and Saginaw Valley State. Madelyn Schamanek recorded her first collegiate goal against the Cardinals, assisted by Maddy Bettys, while goalkeeper Bailey Gauthier stood tall in net, facing 14 shots and collecting five saves.

The Huskies enter the weekend 1-0-1 in GLIAC play after facing Parkside and Roosevelt. Their preseason slate included matchups against Minnesota Duluth, St. Cloud State, Cedarville, and Northwood.

Through six matches, Peyton Wetzel leads Tech in goals (3), points (6) and shots (8), with three of those on target. Close behind in attempts are Ryley Winrich, Megan Antczak, and Reilly Lovercheck, each with five. In goal, senior Bri Barrows has logged the majority of minutes, making 36 saves on 74 shots faced for a 1.80 goals-against average.
