The game saw Davenport trailing by five at halftime, with the Bulldogs maintaining their lead through the second half. Davenport's effort was highlighted by their eight steals and a 19-point contribution from fast breaks. Despite their efforts, the Bulldogs' shooting accuracy, with a 56.4 field goal percentage, proved decisive.
The game commenced with Davenport taking an early lead, driven by
Aidan Moon's jumper and
Alden Ritt's 3-pointer, resulting in a 7–0 start. Despite Ferris State's efforts, including multiple 3-pointers, Davenport maintained a narrow lead throughout the half, highlighted by
Curtis Jackson's fast-break layup, bringing the score to 30–29 at one point. However, the Bulldogs edged ahead in the final moments, ending the first half with a 40–35 advantage.
