Panthers Stay Hot, Pick Up Two More Wins Over the Weekend

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport University women's team picked up a pair of wins this past weekend, taking down Oakland and Hillsdale to move to 9-1 in the 2-25-26 season. 

Match One vs. Oakland 
Result: W, 4-3
How it Happened
Davenport set the tone early by securing the doubles point. The Panthers picked up key wins in the doubles lineup, highlighted by a strong performance from the pairing of Amy Bloch and Lotte Federski paired at No. 2 position, who secured a 6-2 win.

In singles play, the match proved to be a back-and-forth battle. Davenport earned crucial wins from Valentina Moreno and Skye Vandeleur to get to three points. Oakland responded with wins of its own, keeping the team scores tight heading into the final courts.

With the match hanging in the balance, Maja Sandstrom secured a 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 victory at No. 3 singles to close out the match and give the Panthers the victory.

Match Two vs. Hillsdale 
Result: W, 4-3
How it Happened
Davenport came out sharp in doubles play, capturing two of the three courts to secure the opening point. The duo of Bloch and Federski secured a No. 3 doubles victory (7-6). However, the Chargers took the doubles point, going ahead 1-0 in the match.

In singles, DU had an impressive showing. Bloch grinded out a pair of 7-5 set wins in a straight-set victory at the No. 1 slot, while Sienna Opray turned in a dominant performance with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2. At the No. 3 position, Sandstrom followed with a solid 6-4, 6-4 result to keep the Panthers in front. After Hillsdale picked up a point, Addison Lind rounded out the list of singles victories for DU, earning a 6-1, 6-3 victory to clinch Davenport's fourth point of the day.

The Panthers will head to Florida for their annual spring break trip starting on Sunday, March 1.
