Four-Hit Day from Prasnjak Leads Panthers’ Effort

MELBOURNE, Fla. — Behind a four-hit day from Ally Prasnjak, Davenport went toe-to-toe with Bridgeport on Friday at the Space Coast Complex but ultimately fell in a pair of close contests.

Game 1:
After seven innings, the teams remained tied at 2-2, pushing game one into extra innings.

Bridgeport took an early 1-0 lead on a passed ball in the first inning. Davenport settled in and responded in the fourth, when freshman Sydney Drenth collected the first hit of her collegiate career and later came around to score, evening the game at 1-1. The Purple Knights answered in the bottom half with an RBI double to move back in front, 2-1.

The Panthers responded again in the fifth. Ally Prasnjak delivered a triple and scored on an RBI single from Alaina Schwanke to tie the game at 2-2. Both sides were held in check over the next two innings, sending the contest to extras.

In the eighth, Bridgeport used a Davenport error to bring home the go-ahead run, securing the 3-2 result.

Prasnjak led the Panthers with a triple and a double, while Schwanke added two hits and an RBI. Drenth finished with a hit, a run scored, and a stolen base. In the circle, Hannah Tahaney allowed just one earned run across four innings, striking out three and walking none.

Game 2:
Bridgeport jumped out to a two-run lead in the first inning, but Davenport responded in the bottom half. Chloe Bruman worked her way around the bases and scored on a wild pitch and an error, cutting the deficit to 2-1 after the opening frame.

The Purple Knights added a run in the third to extend the margin to 3-1 and created further separation in the fifth with a two-run single to make it 5-1. DU was limited to three hits in the afternoon and couldn't find the timely hit to spark a comeback over the final innings.

Hailey Whisman made the start, going 4 1/3 innings with two strikeouts. Julia Perry followed with 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief, keeping the game steady late.

Bruman reached base twice and accounted for Davenport's lone run, while Hannah Maurer recorded the first hit and stolen base of her 2026 campaign.

Up Next:
Davenport returns to action tomorrow morning against NSIC opponent St. Cloud State at 10:00 a.m., before facing Bridgeport again later in the afternoon.
