House Has Historic Performance as Panthers Drop Season Opener to #4 Maryville

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - On Saturday afternoon, the Davenport University men's lacrosse team fell 12-3 in its season opener against No. 4 Maryville on the road. Despite the loss, Sean House recorded an impressive 27 saves, marking the second most in school history. It was the first start of the redshirt junior's career. 

After falling behind 2-0, Jayden Ashley scored the first goal of the 2026 season off an assist from Luke Eichbauer 10 minutes into the contest.

Charlie Fritz closed out the first period with a goal to trim the DU deficit to one (3-2). However, the Saints went on a massive 9-0 run, which extended all the way into the final period. Charlie Fritz scored the final goal of the game for DU with 4:37 remaining. 

Looking ahead, the Panthers will look to bounce back next Saturday on the road against Madonna at noon in Livonia, Mich.
