Panthers Dominate Malone as Ashley Has Historic Day

CANTON, Ohio — The Davenport University men's lacrosse team secured a decisive 24-4 victory over Malone on the road on Saturday (March 14). Jayden Ashley had a standout performance, finishing with a career-high 10 goals to pace the Panthers' offense, which ranks tied for third in program history for goals in a single game.

Ashley got the Panthers going in the opening quarter, scoring the first goal at 10:52. Griffin Poll followed up with a goal at 10:32, assisted by Charlie Fritz, and Logan Flaherty added another just nine seconds later. Fritz increased the lead with a goal at 9:30, and Ashley scored again at 5:52, assisted by Luke Eichbauer. The Pioneers managed a response with a man-up goal from Ramsey Burnard at 7:14. However, Davenport continued to dominate, with Eichbauer scoring at 3:56, followed by Ashley's man-up goal with 12 seconds remaining in the period, assisted by Luke Fritz. The period ended with Davenport leading 7-1.

Davenport extended its lead with a dominant offensive performance in the second quarter, scoring six goals to the Pioneers' one. Poll initiated the scoring with a goal at 13:18, quickly followed by Will Bjork's goal at 12:20. Bjork added another goal at 1:03, further solidifying Davenport's advantage. The period concluded with Davenport leading 13-2.

Rayce McGilvry opened the third quarter scoring for Davenport with a goal at 9:35, extending its lead over the Pioneers. Davenport capitalized on a man-up opportunity when Ashley scored with an assist from Luke Fritz at 3:31. The period concluded with Davenport leading 15-3.

The Panthers dominated the fourth quarter, extending their lead with a series of rapid goals. Ashley opened the scoring with a man-up goal at 14:19, assisted by Luke Fritz, and added another just over four minutes later. Fritz and Flaherty each netted goals in quick succession, with Flaherty consistently winning faceoffs to maintain possession. McGilvry and Dieter Bloch also found the back of the net, while Brady Dresch added a late goal at 1:54. Despite a goal by the Pioneers' Burnard, Davenport maintained control, ending the period with a 24-4 victory.
