Eichbauer Shines as Panthers Dominate Dragons on Tuesday Evening

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Luke Eichbauer posted a season-high eight points (five goals and three assists) to lead the Davenport University men's lacrosse team to a dominating win over Tiffin with a 20-5 victory on Tuesday at DU Turf Field. Davenport's offense was relentless, scoring six goals in both the first and third quarters, while. DU's faceoff unit excelled, winning 23 of 29 faceoffs.

The Panthers took control in the first quarter with a strong offensive performance. Eichbauer opened the scoring at 11:51 with the first goal of the game. Sean Kuzma extended the lead with a goal assisted by Jayden Ashley at 7:21. Charlie Fritz, also assisted by Ashley, made it 3-0 at 3:49. Eichbauer struck again, assisted by Rayce McGilvry at 3:02, followed by Logan Flaherty's goal after a penalty on the Dragons, bringing the score to 5-0. Eichbauer completed his hat trick with a goal assisted by Tommy Becker at 00:41, closing the quarter with a 6-0 lead for Davenport.

Eichbauer scored at 11:36 in the second quarter to push the DU lead to 7-1. Ashley added another goal at 10:40. Moments later, Ashley struck again at 4:51, assisted by Luke Fritz, further extending Davenport's advantage. The Dragons managed a man-up goal at 1:41, but the Panthers held a 9-2 lead into the break.

In the third quarter, Davenport capitalized early with Ashley scoring at 14:48, assisted by Jackson Kain. Flaherty dominated the faceoffs, consistently gaining possession for Davenport. Luke Fritz extended the lead with a goal at 12:18, followed shortly by Eichbauer's strike at 12:02, assisted by Griffin Poll. The Dragons responded with a goal at 10:39, but Davenport continued to apply pressure. Ashley found the net again at 8:03, assisted by Eichbauer, and McGilvry added another at 6:36. Despite a man-up goal by the Dragons' Aaron Cotter at 5:11, the Panthers maintained control, culminating in another Ashley goal at 00:14 to close the quarter with a commanding lead.

DU secured a decisive win in the final quarter with a strong offensive performance. Ashley scored the first goal of the quarter at 11:59, initiating a scoring run for the Panthers. Luke Fritz and Logan Flaherty each added goals within a brief 20-second span, further extending the lead. McGilvry and Poll contributed late goals, both assisted by Eichbauer, solidifying the victory. Despite the Dragons' effort, including a goal at 4:49, Davenport maintained control, ending the quarter with a 20-5 victory.
