Ashley Nets Six Goals to Lead Panthers Past Pioneers

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Jayden Ashley scored a game-high six goals to lead the Davenport University men's lacrosse team to a 13-5 victory over Point Park on Saturday (March 7) afternoon at the DU Turf Field.

DU initiated the first quarter strongly, with Logan Flaherty winning the opening faceoff and Charlie Fritz securing the first goal at 11:48, assisted by Luke Fritz. Shortly after, Griffin Poll extended the lead to 2-0 with an unassisted goal at 11:34. Ashley added to Davenport's advantage at 4:20, with an assist from Luke Eichbauer, making it 3-0. Point Park University responded with a goal at 1:10. However, Davenport quickly regained momentum as Ashley scored again at 1:04, assisted by Flaherty, concluding the quarter with a 4-1 lead. 

The Panthers maintained control during the second quarter, extending their lead over the Pioneers. Luke Eichbauer scored for Davenport at 10:58, assisted by Charlie Fritz, after a series of offensive attempts including a shot hitting the crossbar. The Pioneers responded with a goal by Parker Bowersox at 2:27, assisted by Ian George. However, Davenport answered with a goal from Ashley just 10 seconds later off an assist from Griffin Poll, to conclude the quarter with a 6-2 advantage.

In the third quarter, DU again extended its lead, showcasing a strong offensive performance. Tommy Becker opened the scoring with a goal at 9:48, assisted by Poll. Ashley then capitalized on a man-up opportunity, scoring at 6:29 with an assist from Will Bjork. Ashley continued his impact by finding the net again at 4:40, assisted by Eichbauer. Dieter Bloch added another goal for Davenport at 3:57, solidifying the Panther's advantage. Sean House played a crucial defensive role, making three saves in the final three minutes to maintain Davenport's lead heading into the last quarter.

The fourth quarter opened with Eichbauer scoring a goal with an assist from Charlie Fritz at 14:43. Davenport's offense was relentless, with Jayden Ashley and Charlie Fritz further extending the lead with goals at 6:00 and 5:22, respectively.
