Preview: Panthers Ready for Crosstown Showdown Against Rival GVSU

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - After splitting last weekend's contest, the Davenport University women's lacrosse team is set to continue conference action, heading across town to take on Grand Valley State in Allendale, Mich.

So far this season, Davenport has had a host of players leading the charge offensively, with six players tallying at least 25 points on the season.

Senior Gabby Basha leads the conference in assists (24) and assists per game (2.50), both of which rank in the top 20 in NCAA Division II. She has also registered 13 goals and leads the squad in points (37).

DU's goal leader is Addison Roe, as she has found the back of the net 30 times this season. She also earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honor in week four.

Defensively, Kacie Stolarek has earned GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors twice this season. She ranks second on the team in caused turnovers (22) and tied for first in ground balls (31) despite missing time due to an injury.

About the Lakers
  • Last season, the Lakers finished 16-4 overall and 8-0 In conference action. Made the NCAA Midwest Regional, but fell 17-14 to No. 4 Maryville in the second round.
  • Seven All-GLIAC performers return for the Lakers, led by Goalkeeper of the Year Sarah Krause. Despite splitting time in the cage, Krause totaled 88 saves on a .547 save percentage.
  • Last week, GVSU swept the GLIAC Player of the Week awards, as Ella Boose (offensive) and Quinn McElroy (defensive) earned the nods. So far this season, Boose leads the team in goals (20) and points (29).
  • Enter the contest on a three-game winning streak, including conference wins over Concordia-St. Paul and Northern Michigan.
  • Six of GVSU's seven losses have come to nationally-ranked opponents.
  • Picked to finish first in the GLIAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
