Panthers Bounce Back with Dominating 20-Point Victory

ELKINS, W.Va. — After falling to UIndy earlier this week, the Davenport University men's lacrosse team had a dominating bounce back win over Davis & Elkins College with a decisive 24–4 victory on Saturday (April 11) at Nuttall Field. Davenport's offense was relentless, outshooting the Senators 61–25 and securing 26 of 31 faceoffs. 

Jayden Ashley led the team with a career-high 14 points, the most in school history in the NCAA Division II era/

The game commenced with Davenport taking an early lead as Ashley scored the first goal at 14:53, assisted by Logan Flaherty. Davenport continued to dominate the quarter, with Griffin Poll and Luke Eichbauer adding to the scoreboard. Ashley found the net again at 12:21, extending the lead. Charlie Fritz and Rayce McGilvry also contributed to Davenport's strong offensive display, ending the quarter with an 8–1 lead over the Senators. 

Davenport extended its lead significantly in the second quarter, scoring four goals to the Senators' one. Ashley opened the scoring for Davenport, finding the back of the net at 10:33. Just over two minutes later, Poll added another goal with an assist from Ashley, further increasing the margin. Fritz contributed a goal at 4:31, again assisted by Ashley, showcasing Davenport's offensive depth. The Senators managed to score at 2:34, but Ashley responded with his second goal of the quarter with only 21 seconds remaining, capping off a strong quarter for Davenport.

The Panthers dominated the third quarter with a commanding performance, expanding its lead significantly. Ashley was instrumental, scoring four goals, including a quick strike just 13 seconds into the quarter. Fritz and Tommy Becker each contributed assists to Ashley's goals, with Fritz also causing a pivotal turnover. Eichbauer and Dylan Fallon added to the scoring frenzy, with Eichbauer finding the net twice. Goalie Noah Simonson made a key save during the quarter, and Davenport capitalized on the Senators' penalties to maintain control.

Ashley started the scoring in the final quarter with a goal at 14:53, assisted by Poll, quickly followed by Will Bjork's goal at 13:45 with help from Eichbauer. Fallon added two goals during the quarter, with assists from Ashley, further increasing their advantage. DU outscored the Senators 5-2 in the final quarter to guide the Panthers to a 24-4 victory.
