Panthers Drop First Conference Game to #6 Seton Hill

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Davenport University men's lacrosse team fell to No. 6 Seton Hill with a final score of 12-6 on Saturday (April 18). Despite a strong start, with Davenport achieving a 13-8 advantage in faceoffs, the team was unable to pull off the victory.

The game commenced with Seton Hill taking an early 2-0 lead in the opening quarter. DU responded late in the quarter, with Luke Fritz finding the back of the net at 00:28, reducing the deficit to 2-1. The period ended with Seton Hill holding a narrow lead over Davenport.

Seton Hill extended its lead early in the second quarter with goals at 13:31 and 11:05, bringing the score to 4-1. The Panthers responded with two goals to close the gap. Tommy Becker scored at 9:20, assisted by Griffin Poll, and Charlie Fritz added another at 5:33 with an assist from Luke Eichbauer, making it 4-3. Both teams maintained strong defensive play through the remainder of the quarter, resulting in a 2-2 scoring tie for the period.

In the third quarter SHU extend its lead to 6-3 following a pair of goals in the opening eight minutes. Eichbauer responded for DU with a goal at 7:21, but the Griffins responded just seconds later at 6:42. Despite Seton Hill's momentum, Eichbauer pulled Davenport closer with another goal, assisted by Becker, at 2:13. The quarter ended with Seton Hill leading 7-5. However, the Griffins pulled away in the final 15 minutes, out-scoring the Panthers 5-1 in the final period.
