Panthers Fall in Regular Season Finale, Look Ahead to Conference Tournament

MIDLAND, Mich. - The Davenport University men's lacrosse team fell 17-13 to Northwood on Tuesday (April 21) at Dean Field. Jayden Ashley led the Panthers' offense with a game-high five goals in the loss.

After surrendering three straight goals to begin the contest, DU responded with three of its own to tie the game with 4:04 remaining in the opening quarter. Tommy Becker scored the opening goal followed by back-to-back goals from Ashley. Logan Flaherty added one more for DU as the game was tied 4-4 at the end of the first quarter.

Davenport took its first lead just over four minutes into the second quarter, as Charlie Fritz scored a man-up goal off a Becker assist. After the Timberwolves responded with a goal of their own, DU scored three unanswered to take its largest lead of the game (8-5).

In the second half, NU struck first to tie the game 8-8. After another Northwood goal, Luke Fritz scored his first goal of the evening to tie it back up at nine apiece. Charlie Fritz and Ashley each scored goals in the third quarter, but the Timberwolves took a 12-11 lead into the final 15 minutes.

Two goals from Ashley tied the contest 13-13 with 6:17 remaining. However, NU ended the game on a 4-0 run to seal the victory.

Charlie Fritz finished with three goals and an assist to help lead the Panther offense, while Becker had two goals and one assist. Luke Eichbauer chipped in with two points (one goal and one assist).

DU will enter the G-MAC Tournament as the No. 3 seed, hosting the quarterfinals on Saturday, April 25, at 7 p.m. at the DU Turf Field.
