Panthers win six events at the GVSU Early Meet

ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Davenport track and field teams made the short trip to Grand Valley State on Friday and Saturday for the GVSU Early Meet. The Panthers were able to win six events at the meet and had an overall great showing.

On the women's side, the 4x100 relay of Arrionna Wallace, Hanah Johnson, Jaiden Young, and Jakya Mack-Smith won with a time of 48.25. Julia Ott won the high jump with a clearance of 5' 5.25" and set a new personal best. Hannah Fitzpatrick was victorious in the javelin with a throw of 114' 9".

On the men's side, Malcolm Earvin sprinted his way to first place in the 100 meters with a time of 10.75. Adam Jorgensen was on top in the 400 hurdles with a time of 53.57 and set a new personal best. The 4x400 relay of Jorgensen, Earvin, Harrison Follett, and Logan Patmalnieks ran 3:31.18 to claim first place. 

Kenzie Fedewa placed fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 59.32. Sophie Orton took seventh in the 100 hurdles in a time of 15.94 for her new PR. Reese Geiger took fourth in the pole vault with a height of 10' 11.75". Bree Hardy was fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 31' 4.5". Madison Hernandez claimed fifth place in the hammer throw (155' 1") and set a new PR. Abbie Morris placed second in the javelin with a toss of 111' 0" for her best result of the season. Tori Lator made it a dominant performance in the javelin in fourth place (90' 2").

Earvin completed a solid meet with a second-place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 21.79. Carson Dykstra took home fourth in the 400 meters in a time of 49.68. It was the fastest time of his freshman year. Lucas Van Meter took fourth in the 1,500 meters crossing the line at 3:57.07 for a new personal best. 

Jaden Herrick brought home third place in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.51. Nick Ruvalcaba finished second in the pole vault with a height of 15' 5". Thomas Johnson competed in the discus and was fourth with a throw of 162' 4" for a new personal best. Andrew Otberg took fifth in the javelin at a distance of 146' 5" for his season best.
