Late First Half Goal Propels Cornerstone to Victory

Grand Rapids, Mich. - Davenport opened its home field today but unfortunately, they left it with a loss. Cornerstone used a late first half goal to build momentum before walking away with a 5-0 victory.

Davenport and Cornerstone played a pretty even first half up until the last minute when the Golden Eagles controlled the ball for much of the last minute and it paid off as the time ran down. CU converted a late goal with just less than one second to go to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. The Panthers has quite a few chances but were unable to put one by the CU keeper.

The second half was all the visitors as Cornerstone posted four goals to post the 5-0 shutout. DU still had many chances but were again unable to convert. Davenport posted 14 shots on the day led by Daniella Bugli who fired 3 against the CU keeper. Carissa Quador posted 6 saves on the day.

The loss drops Davenport to 3-9-1 on the season and 2-7-0 in WHAC play. They will return on Saturday for a home match against Indiana Tech. The kickoff is set for 12:00 on the campus of Davenport University.
