Panthers Set to Host Parkside in GLIAC Tournament

CALEDONIA, Mich. – The Davenport University women's soccer team opens postseason play Tuesday, hosting Parkside in the GLIAC Tournament quarterfinals at 2 p.m. at Pappas Stadium. The Panthers enter as the No. 4 seed with a 10-4-4 overall record and an 8-4-2 mark in GLIAC play. Davenport will host a GLIAC Tournament match for the first time in program history and has reached 10 wins for the first time since 2016.

The Panthers closed the regular season with three consecutive victories, including a pair of wins during their final week of competition. Davenport defeated Northern Michigan, 3-2, on Oct. 29 before shutting out Michigan Tech, 3-0, on Oct. 31. The strong finish helped Davenport secure the No. 4 seed and home-field advantage for the quarterfinal round. The Panthers also earned the No. 10 ranking in the October 27 United Soccer Coaches Division II Midwest Region poll.

The 2026 GLIAC Women's Soccer Tournament features eight teams competing in a single-elimination format, with quarterfinals hosted by the higher-seeded teams. Davenport will host No. 5 Parkside on Tuesday, Nov. 3, with the winner advancing to the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 6, to face the winner of the matchup between No. 1 Wayne State and No. 8 Ferris State. The championship match is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 8.

Scouting Parkside
The Rangers enter the postseason with an 8-6-4 overall record and a 6-5-3 mark in GLIAC play, earning the No. 5 seed. Parkside defeated Davenport, 1-0, in their regular-season meeting on Oct. 18 in Kenosha, Wis. The Rangers will look to carry that result into Tuesday's GLIAC Tournament quarterfinal.

Leading the Parkside offense is junior forward Ava Rizzitano, who recorded eight goals and two assists for 18 points during the regular season. She also led the Rangers with 73 shots and 34 shots on goal. Freshman forward Mary Leininger contributed four goals and one assist for nine points, while junior defender Kayden Schmidt added four goals and one assist for nine points. Kate Brown also provided an offensive presence, recording two goals and seven assists for 11 points.

In goal, sophomore goalkeeper Lindsey Ferrara played 1,561 minutes, recording 59 saves and allowing 17 goals for a 0.98 goals-against average. She posted a .776 save percentage and six shutouts while compiling an 8-6-4 record.

As a team, Parkside scored 26 goals and recorded 18 assists, generating 273 shots and putting 129 on target. The Rangers will look to generate offensive opportunities against a Davenport defense coming off a shutout in its final regular-season contest.

Historically

Despite the result, the Panthers generated 11 shots, including four on goal.
