Caledonia, Mich. - The WHAC season officially opened today as Davenport fell to conference favorite Madonna University 6-2. With the loss, DU drops to 0-3-1 on the year and 0-1-0 in conference action.

Davenport entered the game after a long layoff from game action but the time off did not slow them down as they notched the first goal of the game on a free kick from Ashley DeRuiter. It was her fourth goal of the year after a hat-trick against Huntington but the lead was short as the Crusaders came right back to tie the score less than four minutes later.

DU would again take the lead at the 27:06 mark when Erin Vermeersch got a pass from Shayla Crossman and put it by the keeper. Unfortunately that would be the last offense for the Panthers as Madonna struck quickly again and would follow it up with four more unanswered goals to take the win 6-2.

Davenport falls to 0-3-1 on the year as they will now travel across town on Tuesday to take on the Golden Eagles of Cornerstone University.
