Caledonia, Mich. - The men's soccer team was coming off one it its best performances of the year after defeating St. Francis (IL) 6-0 on Thursday night. The momentum looked to be carrying over against defending WHAC Champions Madonna University but three unanswered goals by the visitors sent DU home with their second loss of the year.

Davenport entered today's showdown with the same record as their opponents but had yet to play in a conference match. The Panthers played fairly even with the Crusaders for the first twenty minutes until Rory Scott got behind the defense on a pass from Elfid Kovacevic and put the ball past the keeper to give DU a 1-0 lead.

Madonna came back just 11 minutes later and tied the game on a misplayed ball by the Panthers keeper before watching DU post a goal with just 13 seconds remaining in the half. The second Panthers goal was scored by Carl Winterbottom on a corner kick from Lewis Robinson.

The second half was dominated by the visiting Crusaders as they were also playing a main down due to a red card given out at halftime. MU scored their first of three unanswered goals two minutes into the second half and followed it with goals at the 50:54 mark and 67:48 mark.

The win lifts Madonna to 5-1-0 on the year and drops the Panthers to 4-2-0. DU will look to rebound when they travel across town on Wednesday to take on rival Cornerstone University. Game time is set for a 4:00 PM kickoff.
