Grand Rapids, Mich. - The WHAC women's soccer competition did not get any easier today for the Panthers after dropping their opener to Madonna University on Saturday. Traveling across town, DU fell 3-0 to Cornerstone to fall to 0-4-1 on the year.
After falling to conference favorite Madonna on Saturday 6-2, the Panthers made the short road trip up the Beltline to take on the reigning Region VIII champions and came away with a disappointing 3-0 loss. DU was unable to to get on the scoreboard today and were significantly outshot by the Golden Eagles but managed to stay in the game due to a solid defense.
After trailing by only one goal at the break, DU came out more aggressive in the second half and had a few good looks but the Cornerstone keeper played a solid game. DU also had a chance to score on a penalty kick, but were unable to convert. Freshman Amy Wright led the attack with 3 shots and felloe freshman Britteny Willis posted 2 shots.
The loss drops Davenport to 0-4-1 on the year and 0-2-0 on WHAC play.
