Box Score

Caledonia, Mich. - The Panthers entered today's WHAC match with Aquinas fresh off their first win of the season and the momentum almost carried over into an upset. However, the Saints scored with just less than five minutes remaining to defeat DU 2-1.

Aquinas entered the season as the defending WHAC champs and DU almost pulled off the biggest upset of the young season in conference play. The two teams played a primarily defensive game in the first 45 minutes with the Saints having a few more opportunities. Davenport's Carissa Quador was solid in net as she made two spectacular saves to keep the score at 0-0 going into halftime.

Aquinas came out much more aggressive in the beginning stages of the second half and reigning WHAC Player of the Year Bri Hill lofted a ball from 30 yards at the 56:42 mark that went over the DU keeper's head to give AQ a 1-0 lead. DU rebounded quickly and pushed right back just 12 minutes later when Shayla Crossman broke through the defense and put a ball by the Saints keeper to tie the score at 1-1. Crossman would have another chance just three minutes later as she again broke through but the Saints keeper made an outstanding save to keep the game tied.

For the final ten minutes, Aquinas really controlled the ball and got a huge rebound off a shot with just less than five minutes remaining and they put the ball away which would turn into the game-winner.

Carissa Quador posted 11 saves on the day as Crossman led the offense with 3 shots. With the loss, DU falls to 1-5-1 on the year and 1-3-0 in WHAC play. They will travel to Siena Heights this Saturday to take on the Saints with a 12:00 PM kickoff.
