GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Ashley Phillips scored with 7:10 remaining in the 2nd overtime to give the Lady Panthers a 1-0 win over Aquinas on Wednesday afternoon. The win lifts DU to 8-6-1 on the year as they sit alone in second place in the WHAC standings with league leader Siena Heights coming to town on Saturday.

After never defeating cross-town rival Aquinas one time before this season, the Panthers posted a season sweep today with a thrilling 1-0 win in double overtime.

The two teams played very evenly for the 90 minutes of regulation with each having their own offensive chances. Each keeper was up to the task as DU's Catherine Howard (Lowell, Mich.) finished the night with seven saves.

After another even stretch in the first overtime that saw Aquinas create three offensive chances to DU's zero, the score stayed at 0-0 heading to the final 10 minutes.

Junior Ashley Phillips (Stevensville, Mich.) then got a nice pass from sophomore Britteny Willis (Hudsonville, Mich.) with only 7:10 remaining and Phillips put the ball under the keeper's arms for the game winning goal.

Howard won her 8th game of the year and posted her second straight shutout and 6th of the season to lift DU to 8-6-1 on the year.

Davenport will welcome WHAC regular season champion Siena Heights to the Turf Field on Saturday for a 12:00 match. The Saints, who are ranked #20 in the NAIA, posted a 3-0 win over DU back on September 26 in Adrian.
