GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Ashley Phillips set a new school record for goals in a season today as she helped the Panthers post a 2-2 draw against #20 Siena Heights University. DU finishes the regular season at 8-6-2 overall and will play in their first ever WHAC Tournament beginning next Saturday.

With a win clinching a home playoff berth in next week's WHAC semifinals, the Lady Panthers came out a little slow against their counterparts from Adrian. Siena Heights got on the board first in the 11th minute of the game to take a 1-0 lead.

Davenport recovered quickly as Alyssa Malone (Hudsonville, Mich.) lined up for a corner kick and the ball ricocheted off a Siena Heights defender to tie the game at the 25:22 mark. Each team would tighten up on defense for the remainder of the half and it was 1-1 at halftime.

Coming out of halftime, the Panthers took the lead in the 71st minute when Ashley Phillips (Stevensville, Mich.) put away a loose ball off the kick of Ashley DeRuiter (Kentwood, Mich.) to give DU a 2-1 advantage.

The goal by Phillips was her eighth of the year which sets a new single season record that was broken last year by Shayla Crossman (Hudsonville, Mich.) and tied by Brooke Guiles.

With a win clearly in their grasps, DU could not hold on as Siena scored with only 1:34 remaining to send the game into overtime.

Playing in the second consecutive overtime game, the Lady Panthers appeared to behind by just a step, but the defense held strong behind the play of keeper Catherine Howard (Lowell, Mich.).

The two teams would each create some very good offensive opportunities but none of their shots found the back of the net and the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

Davenport, which ends their regular season with an overall record of 8-6-2 and 7-3-2 in WHAC play, will now take on Aquinas College in one of two semifinal games on Saturday, November 7. The location of the game will not be determined until Aquinas plays the remainder of their games.
