GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - After seeing their 1-0 lead go away with less than 10 minutes to play, the Panthers got the game winner from Alex Boehm at the 83:04 mark to defeat visiting Aquinas today. The win lifts DU to 5-3-0 on the year and 3-1-0 in league action.

In a matchup of two of the top teams in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC), the Panthers got a late goal from Alex Boehm (Stevensville, Mich.) to down rival Aquinas 2-1.

The first half started with numerous fouls from each team but the Panthers got one leg up when Duvare Minto (St. Mary, Jamaica) crashed a shot and headed in the rebound to give DU a 1-0 lead just 10 minutes into the game.

The defense and goalkeeping for both teams then took over until the final ten minutes when Aquinas scored on a header off of a corner kick to tie the game with 9:29 to play.

After leading for the entire game, the Panthers regrouped and quickly took the lead back less than three minutes later when Boehm took a beautiful one touch pass from Minto to score what would turn out to be the game winner.

Davenport finished the game with 13 shots (9 on goal) while allowing only 6 on goal from the Saints.

James Gilpin (Newcastle, UK) got the win in net, which gives him a season record of 4-3 entering another important contest this weekend.

Davenport improves to 5-3-0 on the year and will travel to Adrian on Saturday to take on Siena Heights in a game that will follow the women's.
