MISHAWAKA, Ind. - A sloppy first half and one goal deficit was not enough to keep the Lady Panthers from winning their second straight game on Friday night as they downed Bethel (Ind.) 2-1 in double-overtime. DU evens its season record at 2-2-0 on the year with a week before their next game on Saturday, September 12.

A sloppy and slow first half saw both teams fail to post any serious scoring threats and after a scoreless first half, the host Pilots got on the board in the 48th minute to take a 1-0 lead.

Davenport, who collected their first win of the season on Wednesday after coming from one goal behind, showed their composure when Catherine Howard (Lowell, Mich.) pounded home a penalty kick to tie the game with just over 10 minutes remaining.

After going into overtime, DU changed their formation and began peppering the Bethel goalkeeper but were unable to put any of their five shots on goal away as the two teams went to a second overtime.

Just 3:38 into the final frame, Anna DeBoer (Jenison, Mich.) sent a lob shot over the BC keeper's head to win the game. The Panthers finished the game outshooting the Pilots 20-10 (8-4 on goal) as Howard only had to make three saves which was credit to the DU defense.

Cat Howard got her second win of the season in net and DU now stands at .500 with a 2-2 overall record. They will resume WHAC play on Saturday, September 12 when they host Indiana Tech.
