Boehm’s Overtime Goal Lifts DU to 1-0 Victory Indiana Tech

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After being defeated by Indiana Tech 2-0 in the WHAC Championship game last year the Panthers were able to avenge the loss with a 1-0 overtime win in tonight's game. Davenport is now 10-5-0 on the year and remains undefeated in WHAC play at 3-0.

Both teams came out sluggish in the first half with only four shots apiece. Davenport came out stronger in the second dominating every aspect of play, but unable to put anything into the net. DU would have numerous chances on net with fifteen shots and three shots on goal by WHAC Player of the Week Michael Ricketts (Tamworth, England).

As play continued during overtime the Panthers would continue to battle with the only goal of the night coming with three seconds left in the first overtime. Alex Boehm (Stevensville, Mich) would account for his eight goal of the year we capitalized on a misplayed ball by the Indiana Tech goalie and play the ball in the right side of the net.

DU would finish the game with 22 total shots compared to Indiana Tech's nine, and also eleven corner kick opportunities. Kevin O'Brien would earn his sixth shutout of the season and tenth win overall.

“Based on chances throughout the game we deserved to win this game. We stepped up in the second half and dominated play and possession. Team morale is high, and we are extremely happy with tonight's win,” commented Head Coach Carl Whitehouse.

The Panther move to 10-5-0 on the year and remain in first place at 3-0 in the WHAC standings. Davenport will be back in action on Saturday when they travel across the state to take on Concordia University for 2:30pm contest.
