LIVONIA, Mich. – In the opening game of WHAC play the Lady Panthers used a late goal to tie the game 1-1 which was the end result after two overtime periods. The tie is the Panthers third of the year as DU moves to 5-1-3 overall and 0-0-1 in the WHAC.
Starting out the WHAC season on the road, the Lady Panthers battled hard with the Crusaders in the first period until a goal eight minutes before half put them down 1-0. Davenport was able to out shoot Madonna 8-6 in the first half even though they entered the locker room down by a goal.
Davenport would continue to play tough defense in the second half as they held MU to only four shots in the period. At the 84:45 minute in the second period Davenport's
Laken Duchar-Clark (London, England) would take advantage of a corner kick pass from
Daniella Bugli (Shelby Twp, Mich.) to tie the game at 1-1 and score her first goal of the year.
The 1-1 mark would stay on the scoreboard for the rest of the match. Both teams were shut-down offensively as they would both only have four shots on goal in the final two overtime periods.
Jessica Bergsma (Jenison, Mich.) would go all 110 minutes in net for the Panthers giving up one goal with four saves.
