GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Britteny Willis scored what turned out to be the game winner in the first half as the Lady Panthers broke a two-game draw streak with an impressive 3-0 shutout of visiting Indiana Tech.  Davenport (6-1-3) will host defending WHAC champion Siena Heights on Saturday at 12:30pm.

After two straight games in which DU came out with a draw against Illinois Tech and Madonna, the Lady Panthers jumped out on top early and added two second half goals to down the Warriors today 3-0.

Junior Britteny Willis (Hudsonville, Mich,) got the scoring started for Davenport with her first goal of the season on a corner kick in the 32nd minute.  The ball bounced off the keeper's hands and just rolled over the goal line to put the Lady Panthers up 1-0.

Coming out of halftime, Davenport instantly became the more aggressive team and doubled their lead just six minutes in when Thelma Gylfadottir (Akranes, Iceland) took a ball from Emily Nielsen (Marshall, MIch.) and beat the Tech goalkeeper on her right side.

Indiana Tech did post more shots in the game and more on goal but DU's Jessica Bergsma (Jenison, Mich.) finished with 11 saves and her sixth shutout of the season.

Senior Daniella Bugli (Shelby Twp, Mich.) finished off the scoring for the home team as she converted a penalty kick after a hand ball in the box from the Warriors.

With the win, Davenport improves to 6-1-3 on the year and 1-0-1 in WHAC play.  The Lady Panthers play host the defending WHAC champion Siena Heights on Saturday at 12:30pm.  The game will be broadcast live on the DAN and will also be available through live stats.
