Women's Soccer Opens WHAC Tourney on Saturday at 1:00pm vs. Indiana Tech

Lady Panthers are #3 seed in tourney and will host first ever game in post-season

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.
 – The women's soccer team opens up the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Tournament on Saturday, November 6 as they will be the #3 seed and host the #6 seed Indiana Tech at 1:00pm.  DU brings an overall record of 8-3-4 into the game while the Warriors are 8-10-0.

For the first time in school history, the Lady Panthers' soccer team will host a post-season contest as they clinched the home field advantage with a 2-1 victory last Saturday over rival Aquinas.  DU will take on Indiana Tech in a 1:00pm matchup on the Turf Field.

In their only meeting this year, Davenport posted a 3-0 shutout over Indiana Tech as DU received goals fro senior DDaniella Bugli (Shelby Twp, Mich.), junior Britteny Willis (Hudsonville, Mich,) and freshman Thelma Gylfadottir (Akranes, Iceland)  Keeper Jessica Bergsma (Jenison, Mich.) had one of her school record eight shutouts.

Cornerstone and Siena Heights tied for the regular season championship but the Golden Eagles have earned the first round bye in the 7-team tournament.  CU will take on the winner of the #4 Madonna vs. #5 Aquinas winner. Siena Heights (#2 seed) will host Concordia (#7) and the winner of that game will play against the winner of the DU/IIT matchup. 

The semifinal round is set for Wednesday, November 10 at the highest remaining seeds with the winners meeting on Saturday, November 13 with a berth to the NAIA National Tournament on the line.
