FORT WAYNE, Ind. - For the sixth time this season, the Davenport men's soccer team played an an overtime contest and came away with their fourth tie with a 1-1 draw on the road against Indiana Tech. The Panthers are now 3-6-4 on the season and 2-0-1 in league play with a 7:00pm home date set for Saturday vs. Concordia.
Davenport, which entered Wedensday's showdown with the top team in the conference, was looking for their third straight win to open league play but unfortunately a first half goal from
Gerard John-Williams was not enough as the Panthers finished with a 1-1 draw.
The senior John-Willams got the scoring started in the 40th minute when he took a great pass from
Chase Burgess to beat the Warriors' keeper and put Davenport on top 1-0. That score held up into the locker room as Davenport was solid in every facet of the game.
The host Warriors however broke through just 6:49 into the second half on a header off a corner kick from Aultain Gaye to even the score at 1-1. Defense then became the story for Indiana Tech as their goaltending was outstanding stopping every shot that DU threw at them and the game finished in a 1-1 tie.
Davenport outshot the Warriors 19-7 (9-4 on goal) and the Panthers held an 8-4 egde in corner kicks. Junior goalkeeper

Davenport is now 7-1-1 in their last nine games in league play dating back to last season...The Panthers posted their first tie ever against Indiana Tech as they are now 9-2-1 all-time against the Warriors...DU will host Concordia at 7:00pm at the Turf Field on Saturday and it will mark the second consecutive time the two teams have played under the lights.
