GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Late Friday night, the Davenport men's tennis team continued their tough schedule against NCAA D2 foe Grand Valley State and were defeated 8-1. Picking up the lone win for the Panthers was the doubles team of
Victor Roland and
Jeff Karasinski.
Starting with doubles play seemed to be working early on for the Panthers as they got out of the gates fast but were only able to hold on to early leads in one of the three matches. The team of
Victor Roland (Natal, Brazil) and
Jeff Karasinski (Grand Rapids, Mich.) defeated Rosslein/Keating of GVSU 8-6.
The two other doubles teams lost by close margins with an 8-6 loss at #2 and an 8-4 loss at #3.
The singles side was dominated by the Lakers as they swept all six matches. The Panthers however continue to improve at each spot.
Davenport takes on Grand Rapids CC today and will be in action next on Saturday, April 2 when they take on Hope College in Holland.
