Box Score
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone used a late first half goal and three more in the second to put away visiting Davenport on Saturday night by the score of 4-0. The loss drops the Panthers to 8-6-1 on the year and 4-3-1 while the Golden Eagles grabbed at least a share of the conference regular season championship. DU will host Concordia University on Wednesday at 7pm on senior night.
Looking to pull an upset with just one week remaining in the regular season, the Panthers were unale to overcome a senior-laden lineup for the Golden Eagles tonight as they fell 4-0 on CU's home field. The loss ends a three match road stretch in which the Panthers went 0-2-1 against the top three teams in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference.
The first half looked as if it would go into the locker room at a 0-0 tie but CU got a nice cross and forward sneaked behind the DU defense to put it away with only 44 seconds remaining. That would be the only tally of the half and then the Eagles poured in three more in the second for the win.
Stuart Collins led the Panthers with a total of six shots, of which two were on net while
Omar Mansah had two on goal and
Mike Boyne.
Davenport, now 8-6-1 overall on the year, will host Concordia University on Wednesday. The Panthers are still fighting for a home playoff berth that will go to the top four teams at regular season's end.
