EAST GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Davenport's Men's and Women's each cruised by Indiana Tech on Friday afternoon. The Women's defeated the Warriors 9-0 while the guys won 8-1. Both teams will be back on the courts tomorrow as they face Northwestern Ohio.
On the men's side Davenport won all three doubles matches. The Panthers received wins from No.1 pairing Vitaly/Roland (8-3), No.2 pairing Briggs/Carvahlo (8-3), and No.3 pairing Chambers/Pell (8-2).
The Panthers continued their success in the singles matches as they won every match but No.1 singles. After dropping the first set,
Victor Roland and
Christian Woods both came back to win the final two sets to pull out the win. The singles matches 4-6 presented less of a challenge as Mattheus Carvahlo,
Eric Pell, and
Tyler Chambers each won in straight sets.
The Lady Panthers remained perfect in conference play and extended their win streak to 6 as they cruised by Indiana Tech. Davenport won all three doubles matches without even dropping a single game.
Davenport's dominance continued in singles game.
Stephanie Fortney and
Angelica Woods finished the day without dropping a game as they both won in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. The Panthers won the remaining four matches in straight sets while only dropping a combined 8 games.
Both teams will be back in action tomorrow in their final match of the regular season. The Panthers will face off against Northwestern Ohio in East Grand Rapids at 11:00 AM.
