GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. –  The Davenport University men's soccer team used two headers within the final 10 minutes of the match to complete a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference newcomer Lawrence Tech University Wednesday evening.

The Panthers saw freshmen Omar Mansah, Mike Boyne and Henry Spees net their first career goals while the veteran Stuart Collins used his second goal on the year as the match-winner the beat the Blue Devils. The Panthers also held a 13-1 advantage on corner kicks, one of which was the key play of the night.

Despite outshooting the Blue Devils 22-7, the Panthers saw themselves trail for a majority of the match. The Panthers jumped on the scoreboard three minutes into the match when JC Smith's cross to Mansah inside the goal box delivered the first goal of the match.

The lead would disappear after the 10-minute mark as the Blue Devils bounced back and scored two goals at 11:19 and 13:09.

But the Panthers got a goal in before halftime when Bradley Lediard's cross goes off a Blue Devil defender's foot and right to Boyne who puts away inside the box at 38:42.

Although the Blue Devils regained the lead in the 62nd minute, the Panthers had numerous scoring chances but couldn't put it away. One notable highlight was when Panther goalkeeper Kevin O'Brien was elected to take a penalty shot. Although keeper Josh Lance went the opposite direction, the ball hit the right post and was cleared out of play by the Blue Devil defense.

The Panthers rally started in the 82nd minute, Hayden Gort delivered a beautiful cross from midfield where Spees was waiting in the penalty box to head in the match-tying goal. At 89:13, Collins lifted the Panthers to victory when he headed in the golden goal off a corner kick by Dino Duratovic.

Davenport will wrap up its four-match homestand Saturday against Siena Heights University. Kickoff is at 4 p.m.
