The Davenport Report – 12-1-0, 5-0-0 WHAC
The Panthers are coming off a pair of victories with different outcomes. DU couldn't hold on to a 1-0 lead with 45 seconds left in regulation but
Lizzie Paul helped the Panthers escape with a 2-1 double overtime win at crosstown foes Aquinas last Wednesday. Three days later, Paul was on the spotlight again as she recorded her fourth career hat trick to lead DU to a 4-0 victory at Indiana Tech. With the five goals tallied on the week, Paul broke the single-season record for points last Saturday at Indiana Tech, which was previously held by
Paige Eli with 33 last season.
Keeping the Streak Alive!
After picking up its 11th straight win at Indiana Tech last weekend, Davenport has matched the program's record for consecutive match victories set last season. The 2012 Panthers hold the unbeaten record at 12.
Scouting Madonna – 7-6-1, 3-2-0 WHAC – Head Coach: Jeff Hodgson
The Crusaders have climbed over the .500 mark after winning three straight matches. Recently, Madonna is coming off having pound Rochester College 8-0. Although she did not get the starting nod, Morgan Himanek provided the offensive spark by recording a hat trick. Ashley Parent also had a multi-goal day, scoring two goals. Blaire Schmalenberg has been the Crusaders starting keeper this season, going 7-5-0 on the year with 44 saves and an impressive 1.58 goals-against average in 911 minutes of work. In addition, the goalkeeping duties have been shared with Katrina Arnold, who in eight appearances owns a 2.13 GAA and 20 saves in 380 minutes.
A Look at the NAIA Top 25
Davenport stays at No. 7 in the NAIA Top 25 for the fifth consecutive week, however, the top five shaked around again. Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), which is the only team to hand the Panthers a loss this season, climbed back to No.1 after a two-week absense, Concordia (Ore.) elevated to No. 2 while staying at No. 3 is Westmont (Calif.). Embry-Riddle (Fla.), last week's No. 1 team, dropped to No. 5 after suffering a loss to Northwood (Fla.) last week. The Seahawks were rewarded for their victory by moving above the Eagles.
