GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Laken Duchar-Clark's second goal of the season broke the ice and Paige Eli collected an insurance policy to help secure the seventh-ranked Davenport women's soccer team's 2-0 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference win over Siena Heights on a warm, sunny evening at DU Turf Field Wednesday. The Panthers improve to 9-1 overall, 2-0 in the WHAC on the year while the Saints drop to 4-6-1 overall, 0-2 in league play.

Both teams had chances to get on the board early in the half. Mikalya Ferer showed excellent footwork in the Panthers goal box but her shot from the left side was caught by Michelle Marcus. For Davenport, Paige Eli trapped a loose ball and took an uncovered shot on the right side but was Crystal Wilcoxen made a one-hand diving save.

While each team traded off possessions, Davenport found the back of the net at 17:35 when Brenna Hartner dribbled through the right side before sending the ball to the center where Duchar-Clark's header went into an uncovered net. The second goal came seven minutes later, Eli broke away from midfield and dribbled deep into the Saints zone before taking a shot near the crossbar.

Davenport held a 14-3 shot advantage, 4-1 on goal. Lizzie Paul, who saw her scoring streak come to an end at five, led the team with four shots, followed by Eli with three. Both Marcus and Wilcoxen had only one save on the evening.

The Panthers now begin a three-match road trip starting with Marygrove Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
