LIMA, Ohio. – The No. 7 Davenport women's soccer team tried to find a rally after an early penalty kick but host Northwestern Ohio was able to hold on and hand DU a 2-0 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference defeat Saturday, the Panthers first defeat in a month to the day. The Panthers, who have already secured at least a share of the WHAC regular-season championship, must tie or defeat Concordia at home Wednesday to clinch the title outright and receive homefield advantage in the conference tournament.
 
With the loss, the Panthers saw its program-record winning streak come to an end at 13.
 
The Racers (12-5-0, 6-2-0 WHAC) took advantage of a penalty kick at 3:47 to take a 1-0 lead. Although she made one save on the day, Michelle Marcus had to deal with five shots in the first half.
 
Davenport (14-2-0, 7-1-0 WHAC) was held without a shot in the first half but had a couple of shots that hit the crossbar in the second. Lizzie Paul and Thelma Gylfadottir each recorded a pair of shots on the day.
 
Northwestern Ohio collected an insurance policy in the 81^st minute thanks to Anja Koempel.
 
Before Davenport and Concordia get ready to pull the curtain on the regular-season at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, the Panthers will honor their senior class.

Northwestern Ohio wins the inaugural meeting against Davenport…Davenport suffered its first loss since losing to then-No. 1 and defending national champion Lindsey Wilson (Ky.)…The Panthers last WHAC loss was to Aquinas on Oct. 29, 2011…The last time Davenport was shut out was to Lindsey Wilson.
