GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Davenport advanced to their fifth Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) title game in program history with a 2-1 victory over Madonna on Tuesday evening. The Panthers, who extended their win streak to 14 matches, will host Northwestern Ohio on Friday at 7 p.m. with the winner gaining the conference's automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament.

Dzenan Catic and Damian Goncalves each scored for the Panthers as they now move on to the WHAC title game where they will face the second seeded Racers of Northwestern Ohio. Mirza Harambasic earned his 18th win in net for DU as the senior finished with seven saves.

Madonna controlled the play early on and had a few good looks in the opening 15 minutes but could not break through the DU defense. Once the Panther offense got going as it has all season, Dzenan Catic found himself right in front of the net all alone as he headed in a pass from freshman Chris Rassel to put the Panthers up with 6:08 to play in the first half.

The teams played a majority of the second half between the 18's but DU struck again to take a huge two-goal edge with just under 20 minutes to play when Damian Goncalves took a perfect header from Chase Burgess and beat the MU keeper low for the 2-0 lead.

The Crusaders, who had not lost a match since last playing Davenport back on September 28, made the last few minutes interesting and broke through with their first goal with just under a minute to play but it would be all they would get as DU ran out the clock by holding onto possession for the remainder of the time.

DU now advances to their fifth WHAC title game in their 9-year history in the WHAC as they will host Northwestern Ohio on Friday at 7 p.m. The game will follow the women's title game between the same two schools.

Post-Match Notes
Davenport has now won their last five meetings against Madonna and have outscored them this season in both matchups 6-2…DU is now 27-8-2 all-time on the DU Turf Field (opened in 2008)…The Panthers are 10-6 all-time in the WHAC Tournament…DU is 2-2 in their previous four trips to the WHAC Championship match (winning the title in 2005 and 2010)
