Women's Hockey Gears Up for East-West Showdown in Rhode Island

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After taking a well-deserved week away from action, the Davenport women's hockey team will pack their bags, hop on the bus and head to the campus of the University of Rhode Island to meet three opponents in an East vs. West showdown at the ACHA Women's Division I Showcase this weekend. In their second-farthest trip away from home, the Panthers will represent the West and face Massachusetts, Vermont and Northeastern.

The Davenport Report – 6-6-0, 6-4-0-0 CCWHA
The Panthers hit the road for the first time in a month, after playing the last six contests at Patterson Ice Center. DU is looking to get out of a two-game losing skid after suffering defeats to Michigan State 5-0 and 4-1. Although she did not score a goal or notch an assist against the Spartans, Chantal Caraher still leads the team in points with 27 while sharing the lead in assists (14) with Darian Adams. Caraher, who has 13 goals on the year, is one behind team-leader Lexie Boydston. The goaltending duties have been shared between Lauren Yomantas and Victoria Smishek. Yomantas leads the two in goals-against average with a 2.57 but Smishek has had to make more saves, tallying 177.
 
Scouting Massachusetts – 4-3-0 – Head Coach Bill Wright
UMass is coming off having split the last two contests with the visiting Northeastern last weekend. The Minutewomen took game one 3-0 before falling short to the Huskies in the second meeting 2-1. Amanda Abromson and Sarah Oteri are currently sharing the team lead in points with eight. Abromson has tallied a team-best six goals and notched a pair of assists whle Oteri is the other way around, scoring two goals and leading the team with six assists. Corell Chelsea has seen the most minutes between the posts for the Minutewomen, carrying a 1.00 GAA in 300 minutes of work.
 
Scouting Vermont – 5-4-0 – Head Coach Tom Ryan
The Catamounts head to Rhode Island after taking two-of-three contests at The Ohio State campus last weekend, earning an 8-1 victory over Colorado and 5-0 win over the host Buckeyes while falling to Miami (Ohio) 7-1. Emily Auerbacher and Emily Ford have been the most dangerous players on the ice this season. Auerbacher leads the team in points (14), scoring nine goals and tallying five assists, and Ford leads the team with 10 goals and has an assist for 11 points. Rosie Gluck and Audrey Currier have been splitting time between the posts for Vermont. Currier, who has logged in 240 minutes on the ice, owns a 3.00 GAA and has made 102 saves, both best on the team. Gluck has played the most minutes at 269 and carries a 3.12 GAA and has stopped 37 shots.
 
Scouting Northeastern – 8-2-1 – Head Coach Chris Walsh
Northeastern returns to action after splitting with UMass last weekend. Nicole Fox and Hannah Berry are both pacing the team with 21 points each. Fox leads the team with 12 goals and has added nine assists while Berry has 10 goals and a team-best 11 assists. Dion Anne-Marie has seen every minute between the posts for the Huskies, owning a 1.52 GAA with 229 saves.
