GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Thelma Gylfadottir had a goal and a pair of assists to match her career-best five points as she and the No. 10 Davenport women's soccer team closed the opening round of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament with a 5-0 win over Concordia on a wet Wednesday afternoon at DU Turf Field. The Panthers will host fourth-seed Madonna Saturday at 4 p.m.

The Panthers (16-2) shut out their 12th opponent this season, tying the single-season record set last season.
 
Mackenzie VanDerWarf scored the first goal of the match while Lizzie Paul, Gylfadottir, Letesha Cannonier each found the back of the net for DU (16-2). Eli also had an assist to finish the day with three points.
 
Michelle Marcus had to make two saves between the posts before handing the reigns to Lexi Kruse, who made only one save in the final 10 minutes of the match.
 
Davenport got on the board 15 minutes into the match with Karli Harris and Mackenzie VanDerWarf prevented a loose ball from being cleared from the goal box. VanDerWarf would collect the loose ball and fired it into the net.
 
The Panthers second goal arrived before halftime in the 43rd minute. Tam Grzybowski took a corner kick from the right side to the left post where Teresa Thiel made a one-touch pass to Lizzie Paul in the center for the one-touch shot into the goal.
 
Gylfadottir would set up two goals in the span of one minute. In the 68th minute she dribbled down the left flank and connected to Cannonier in the goal box for the one-touch shot. One minute later, Gylfadottir dribbled across midfield and found Paige Eli on the left side who fire into the goal beating Stephanie Finilla to take a 5-0 lead.
 
Post-Match Notes
Davenport improves to 10-3-0 all-time against Concordia, having won seven straight…Tam Grzybowski made her first appearance on the field for the first time since Sept. 11…Along with the goal and two assists, Thelma Gylfadottir matched her career single-match best five points, which was against Aquinas on Sept. 19, 2012…It is the second consecutive match that DU saw five different Panthers find the back of the net.
