MIDLAND, Mich. – Lizzie Paul scored two goals, Mackenzie VanDerWarf and Letesha Cannonier both scored one as the 10th-ranked Davenport women's soccer team concluded their six-match season-opening road trip with a 4-1 win over NCAA Division II Northwood Wednesday afternoon.

The Panthers will open their home slate against NCAA Division III Bluffton Saturday at noon.

Davenport jumped to a 1-0 lead 10 minutes into the match. Fishley fed a pass to the front but as a defender was about to take possession, VanDerWarf stole the ball and immediately took a shot directly at the middle passed Northwood netminder Julie Shields.

Five minutes later, Lizzie Paul sent a pass down the left flank to Cannonier, who made a few touches before her shot found the left corner of the net.

Paul added on to the lead a minute before intermission. She dribbled down the left flank and her shot arched to the right corner of the goal. Paul's second goal arrived at the 52nd minute. Paul broke away from the Northwood backline to collect a pass from midfield by VanDerWarf to set up a shot up the middle.

The Timberwolves avoided a shutout in the 74th minute. Jessica Flores' shot from the left side arched over Davenport keeper Michelle Marcus and into the net.
