GOSHEN, Ind. – Three goals in the first half were followed by two more in the second as Davenport picked up a 5-0 shutout of Goshen on the road on Tuesday evening. Five different players scored for the Panthers as the win lifts the team to 3-0 on the young season. DU will now turn their attention to a weekend tournament at Indiana Wesleyan in which they will play No. 9 Rio Grande on Friday and the host Wildcats on Saturday.

Davenport scored only 26 goals during the entire 2012 season and through their first three games of 2013, they have 12 after posting five on Tuesday evening in a 5-0 win at Goshen College (Ind.). Mirza Harambasic picked up his first career shutout as the senior finished with a pair of saves.

The Panthers wasted little time in getting the edge on a cool night in Indiana as Jacob Love recorded his second of the season in the tenth minute after he powered one by the keeper from a lob pass off the foot of Stuart Collins. Just less than 15 minutes later, Dzenan Catic posted his third of the season and DU finished the opening half with a third goal as Jordan Van Oostenbrugge posted an unassisted tally.

Davenport kept the pressure on in the second half and got a pair of goals in the final 45 minutes, one a header from Chase Burgess and one a brilliant behind the back shot from Dino Duratovic.

The DU defense allowed only two shots on goal from the host Maple Leafs as they again controlled the possession for a majority of the game, much like their first two contests.

DU will take a 3-0 record into their weekend tournament at Indiana Wesleyan. The Panthers will meet perennial NAIA powerhouse Rio Grande (Ohio) on Friday at 4:30 p.m. Davenport and IWU will meet Saturday at 7 p.m. Live stats will be available for both.

Post-Match Notes

The shutout is the first for the men's soccer program since last season on September 29 when they defeated Siena Heights 3-0 at home and its their first road shutout since October 29 of 2011 when they tied Aquinas 0-0…The newcomer scoring assault continued as they have now accounted for 9 of the 12 goals on the season…DU leads the all-time series with Goshen 3-0…The 3-0 start is the best in school history
