Hume Scores Eight Times; No. 22 Panthers Down Colonials to Sweep Road Trip

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Daniel Hume scored eight goals off the bench, Parker Horvath added three, Dominic Boggiano scored twice and the two each had five assists in the 22nd-ranked Davenport men's lacrosse team's 21-7 victory Sunday afternoon. The Panthers return to Michigan with the two wins to start the season and will be the first team to open DU Turf Field for the first time in 2014 to begin a four-game homestand starting Saturday against Purdue followed by Indiana Sunday. Both teams are slated for 2 p.m. starts.
 
Coltin Borthwick and Devon Benson also had a pair to round out the Panthers with multiple goals.
 
Panther netminder Bill Linhardt stopped half of the 14 shots taken by the Colonials on the afternoon while his opposite Kyle Webb had 18 saves between the posts.
 
Davenport would score four goals in the span of nearly five minutes in the middle of the first quarter. Hume found the back of the net twice while Borthwick and Nathaniel Adkins each scored.
 
After a Colonial goal with 4:16 left in the second quarter, the Panthers began to run away with the lead by scoring six times to bump the score 13-3 with 12:10 left in the third.
