Men's Tennis Schedule
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The most recent National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) rankings were released on Tuesday and the Davenport Men's Tennis team moved up to No. 20 in the country which marks their highest nod in school history. The Panthers will now face a tough four-match weekend starting Thursday when they play travel to Calvin College. DU will then follow with home matches against Cardinal Stritch on Friday and a pair on Saturday against Marian University and St. Francis (Ill.).
The next few weeks will see the men's tennis team play multiple home matches and they get it started this weekend with four matches all against regional opponents. DU will face Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foes Cardinal Stritch and St. Francis (Ill.) while also hosting Crossroads League opponent Marian University. The Panthers get it all started on Thursday with a road match at Calvin College.
Davenport brings an overall record of 9-4 into the week after posting a 9-0 shutout of Hope College last week. The victory was the first appearance DU had made since returning from spring break and in between there, they have rose from 24
th in the national poll to now No. 21.
Calvin comes into the week with a 2-1 overall record with wins against St. Nortber and Ripon while falling to Cornerstone.
The CCAC foes of Cardinal Stritch and St. Francis will both be difficult matches as the Fighting Saints of Saint Francis are receiving votes in the national poll and are 6-5 so far this season. There was a schedule change and now this match will be played at 2:30pm on Saturday. Cardinal Stritch is 6-8 on the season and the start will be at 6pm on Friday.
The match squeezed between those two will feature DU facing Marian University (Ind.) at 8:30am.
