GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Davenport was looking to put a stranglehold on second place in the conference standings and led 2-1 after doubles, but the No. 16 Racers from Northwestern Ohio came back to win four of the six singles matches to escape with a 5-4 win on Friday evening. The loss drops the No. 19 ranked Panthers to 16-6 on the season and 1-2 in league action. DU will host Indiana Tech on Saturday.

The Panthers got out to a fast 2-1 lead over their rivals from Northwestern Ohio as they got wins from Tyler Chambers and Zac Chambers (9-7) and Sam Rogers and Juan-Philip van Antwerpen (8-6).

Turning to singles, DU needed just three wins but was unable to come up with that final point as the Racers posted wins at No. 1, No. 2, No. 4 and No. 6 to post the 5-4 win.
DU did grab wins at No. 3 – van Antwerpen (4-6, 6-0, 6-3) and at No. 5 – Zac Chambers (6-4, 6-7, 7-6).

The Panthers will look to rebound when they host Indiana Tech on Saturday at 1 p.m.
