WHAC Play Features Four Matches this Week for Tennis Teams

Men's Tennis Schedule | Women's Tennis Schedule

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The conference season is finally here for the Davenport men's and women's tennis teams and they will get four matches in over the next five days starting tonight when they host Cornerstone at 4 p.m. at Farmers Athletic Complex. The women's team is 14-4 overall and is ranked No. 18 in the country while the men are 15-4 and ranked No. 19.

Women's
Davenport has won its last 11 matches overall coming into conference play and boasts their highest ranking in school history at No. 18 in the latest NAIA Coaches' Poll. DU picked up a pair of wins over Crossroads League foes Indiana Wesleyan and Taylor last weekend and their last setback came in Florida to No. 9 Northwood (Fla.).

The women will host Cornerstone today at 4 p.m. before hosting No. 25 Northwestern Ohio on Friday and Indiana Tech on Saturday. The match with the Golden Eagles is the second of the year for the two cross-town schools as DU won 9-0 back in the fall.

DU will then welcome in UNOH on Friday for a showdown that has decided the regular season conference crown over the past two seasons. That match will start at 3 p.m. on Friday with a 1 p.m. match on Saturday to follow against Indiana Tech.

Men's

The men's team enters conference play on a seven match winning streak and they will complete their WHAC schedule in the next five days with all four matches here in Grand Rapids. DU starts it out on Tuesday vs. Cornerstone, whom they defeated back in the fall 8-1.

Then the meat of the schedule starts Wednesday when they head up to Riverview Athletic Club on the north side of town to face No. 9 Aquinas College. DU is still looking for their first win over their rival Saints and the match is slated for a 6 p.m. start.

The competition stays stiff over the weekend for the Panthers as they then welcome in No. 16 Northwestern Ohio on Friday for a 3 p.m. showdown and end the week with a 1 p.m. contest against Indiana Tech on Saturday.

All home matches for scheduled to be played at Farmers Athletic Complex. Check back to the schedule pages for further information on cancellations or location changes due to weather.
